Welcome to Ecological Herpetology

Olá pessoas! Meu nome é William Medeiros e sou um ecólogo, um cientista que estuda as interações dos seres vivos com o meio onde vivem. Amo todos os animais (exceto baratas, essas eu apenas tolero), mas tenho uma paixão especial por répteis e anfíbios, portanto também me denomino herpetólogo (cientista que estuda os anfíbios e os répteis).

Hello people! My name is William Medeiros and i am an ecologist, a scientist that study the interactions of living beings with the environment where they live. I love all animals (except cockroaches, these I only tolerate), but i have a special passion for reptiles and amphibians, so i also call myself of herpetologist (scientist thar study amphibians and reptiles).

Criei o Ecological herpetology para compartilhar um pouco desta paixão que eu e meus colegas  

compartilhamos por essas criaturas tão incompreendidas e temidas, assim como algumas de nossas descobertas sobre elas para alimentar a curiosidade de vocês. No blog farei posts a cada dois dias (com possíveis hiatos, pois sou humano e pós graduando) sobre a ecologia, taxonomia, fisiologia, comportamento, história evolutiva, biogeografia e vários outros temas relacionados com a herpetofauna (répteis e anfíbios), assim como as descobertas interessantes de cientistas da área e seus trabalhos.

I created the  Ecological herpetology to share a little of this passion that my colleagues and I share for these creatures so misunderstood and feared, as well as some of our discoveries about them to feed your curiosity. On the blog I will make posts at every two days (with possible gaps, becuse I am human and post graduate student) about the ecology, taxonomy, physiology, behavior, evolutionary history, biogeography and several other topics related to herpetofauna (reptiles and amphibians), as well as the interesting discoveries of scientists in the field and their work.

Espero com este projeto incentivar a leitura, aguçar sua curiosidade e despertar sua paixão por essas criaturinhas tão incríveis e meigas, ou pelo menos diminuir sua repulsa por elas. Cada post seguirá o modelo deste, um pouco de texto acompanhado de fotos e alguns links no final para quem quiser se aprofundar. Além disso ao final de cada parágrafo em português( em fonte arial) haverá o mesmo parágrafo (com as correções gramaticais cabíveis e em fonte Times new roman) em inglês, assim não importa qual das duas línguas você fale, poderá acompanhar e ainda tem a chance de aprender e exercitar um novo idioma.

With this project, I hope to encourage reading, sharpen your curiosity and awaken your passion for these amazing and sweet creatures, or at least reduce your disgust for them. Each post will follow the model of this one, a little text accompanied by photos and some links at the end for those who want to go deeper. In addition, at the end of each paragraph in Portuguese(in arial front) there will be the same paragraph (with appropriate grammatical corrections and in times new roman front) in English, so no matter which of the two languages you speak, you can read and still have the chance to learn and exercise a new language.

Vocês são livres para repostar e reproduzir o conteúdo destes posts em qualquer lugar desde que, assim como eu farei,  citem as fontes. Qualquer imagem que não foi você que fez tem um autor que deve ser citado, assim como as informações extraídas de trabalhos científicos, pois não é legal levar credito pelo trabalho dos outros.
